News & UpdatesHartley Racing and Scott Palmer join forcesMarch 5, 2007 - Scott Palmer and Hartley Racing are joining forces and working together for the first race of the IHRA Drag Racing Series. At San Antonio, Scott Palmer will be driving the Pro-Data/Hartley Racing Top Fuel Dragster. Owner/Tuner Allen Hartley seems to have a great handle on the tune-up of the car so far this year, putting up some big numbers at Pomona and Phoenix. Driver, Joe Hartley has done a great job driving, even beating Tony Schumacher in the first round at Pomona. With the car running so strongly, and their performance going so well recently, Allen and Joe have decided to run the car at the IHRA event in San Antonio for the first race of the year. Because Joe is only able to attend a limited number of races this year, Scott Palmer will be behind the wheel at the first IHRA event of the year. Currently, Scott Palmer has his own operation with the Scott Palmer Racing Top Fuel Dragster, but he will split some time up between the two teams, and they will work together as often as possible. Hartley Racing and Scott Palmer Racing often share crew members, so this joining together should be very beneficial to both teams, hopefully enabling Scott to possibly make a run at a top 5 spot in IHRA points for the season. "We want to bring our new sponsors to the IHRA and show them the hospitality that the IHRA offers. My major sponsors include Nitroplate, High Temp Coatings (already involved in IHRA Contingency program), O'Reilly Auto Parts, Grand Crowne Travel and Resorts, and JW Performance. Hartley Racing has the backing of Allen's company, Pro Data Computers for the season. All of our sponsors are eager to start the season". A good showing in the IHRA will help their sponsors get more exposure and will help both Hartley and Palmer get more exposure themselves. Scott Palmer's sponsors are already taking a look at the IHRA and their potential marketability in the IHRA National Event Series. "Our goal is to show our sponsors the value in being involved in the IHRA and to run most of the series events. I am sure that filling in for Joe when his schedule is full will prove to be very beneficial to both teams as well as our sponsors. Stop by the pits and say hello, whether it's Hartley Racing or Scott Palmer Racing. See you at the Races!!" |

Born: September 4, 1976 Joe grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent his time collecting hero cards and used car parts from race teams at the Kansas City International Raceway. In high school, he convinced his father, that in exchange for good grades, he would get to drive the A-fuel dragster. Joe made his first pass in 1992 and never looked back. For the next eight years, Joe and his family competed in the NHRA Top Alcohol class with solid performances including a win at Brainerd, Minnesota; a second place finish in Houston, Texas; and a third place Division 5 showing. Then he went on to TOP FUEL. |
